Report: Zac Efron Exits 'Footloose' Remake

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Zac Efron 's dancing days could be over - at least when it comes to remake of "Footloose."
According to TheWrap.com, Zac has quit Paramount's "Footloose," a remake of the 1984 Kevin Bacon movie. Zac reportedly told the studio that he's not interested in doing another musical right now.
"People had been working on this project since last July -- we were all shocked," a movie source told the Web site.
A rep for the studio could not reached when contacted by the TheWrap.com.
Zac will next be seen in "17 Again."

The Wonder Years's Danica McKellar Is Married

Danica McKellar, a mathematician and actress who played the beloved character on the hit TV show, tied the knot on Sunday with composer Mike Verta, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

McKellar, 34, and Verta, 36, exchanged vows in an ocean-side church at sunset in La Jolla, Calif., in front of 150 guests, including the bride's sister and maid of honor, Crystal McKella, who played Becky Slater on The Wonder Years.

Also present were actors Dan Lauria and Allie Mills, who portrayed Kevin's (played by Fred Savage) parents on the show.

The bride wore a mermaid-style wedding gown and a tiara by Renee Strauss while the groom wore a tuxedo with tails and white gloves.

"We wanted an intimate, formal event," says McKellar, who walked down the aisle to wedding music composed by Verta and performed by members of the San Diego Symphony.

A reception followed at a private club, where guests enjoyed a sitdown dinner and dancing to a 10-piece band. The newlyweds danced their first dance to an original Sinatra-style love song written by Verta and performed by McKellar's uncle, Kim McCellar.

The couple started dating in 2001 and got engaged last August in Chicago.

McKellar, who graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a BS in mathematics in 1998, is the author of two books: Math Doesn't Suck and Kiss My Math. She has also appeared on many other television shows including The West Wing.

Verta is an accomplished music composer for film and television. He also came up with the titles and designed the covers for both of McKellar's bestselling books.

PEORIA, Ill. - Michael Jordan celebrated another Chicago basketball championship - his son's.

Marcus Jordan, son of the Bulls' six-time champion, scored a game-high 19 points to lead Chicago Whitney Young to a 69-66 victory over Waukegan in the Illinois Class 4A championship Saturday.

As Marcus Jordan and his teammates celebrated on the court after the final buzzer, Michael Jordan stood quietly, clapping his hands with tears in his eyes.

"Crying?" the NBA great said in response to a reporter's question. "I'm not crying. Not for me, anyway."

The younger Jordan was key down the stretch after two teammates fouled out, hitting four of four free throws in the final 3 minutes to seal the victory.

"Awesome," Marcus Jordan said. "Just awesome."

Michael Jordan, part-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, skipped his team's home loss to Indiana so he could attend his son's game. Another son, Jeff Jordan, plays basketball for the University of Illinois.

David Letterman and his longtime girlfriend, Regina Lasko, have gotten hitched, Usmagazine.com has learned.

The CBS Late Show host and Lasko tied the knot Thursday evening, a source tells Us.

The two -- who began dating more than 10 years ago when Lasko worked for him on his show -- welcomed son Harry in November 2003.

In 2007, Letterman told Oprah Winfrey that his son Harry has made a "huge difference" in his life -- but the boy doesn't always get his daddy's sense of humor.

Said Letterman, "Mommy has to tell him a lot that I'm just teasing."

Letterman was previously married for seven years to his college sweetheart Michelle Cook.

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing.

Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you.

I hope this doesn't come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows

Lance Armstrong crashed in Spain Race

Lance Armstrong, the seven-time winner of the Tour de France, crashed hard on Monday during the first stage of a five-day race in Spain and might have injured his right collarbone.A serious injury may jeopardize Armstrong's plans to ride in the Giro d'Italia in May. It would also hinder his training for the Tour de France, in July.

Armstrong and at least a dozen other riders tumbled from their bikes during the opening stage of the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon. Afterward, Armstrong was seen clutching his right shoulder on the roadside. Philippe Maertens, a spokesman for Armstrong's Team Astana, said Armstrong had been taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

The race was Armstrong's second competition in Europe after coming back from a three-and-a-half-year break from the sport. He raced in the one-day Milan-San Remo on Saturday, finishing 125th. He also raced in the Tour Down Under in Australia in January, finishing 64th, and the Tour of California last month, finishing 7th.

But this race was more than just any stage race. It was Armstrong's first competition alongside his teammate Alberto Contador, the winner of the 2007 Tour, as the two men vie to be the lead rider come the Tour de France.

Armstrong's injury, if severe enough, could answer the question of which rider will be the team's No. 1 at the Tour. A broken collarbone could be a serious injury if it goes beyond a simple fracture.

Team Garmin-Slipstream's David Millar, the former world time trial champion, broke his collarbone during the final stage of the Paris-Nice race. His joint had been broken in at least two pieces and the ligament had been torn off the bone.

Millar will be out for at least four weeks after having surgery on the collarbone last Thursday. He said he would resume training indoors as early as next week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Octuplets mother Nadya Suleman has fired a nonprofit group of nurses that has been helping care for her children.
Suleman attorney Jeff Czech on Monday confirmed a Radaronline.com report that Suleman has fired Angels in Waiting.
The group had been training nannies who were paid by Suleman, who had six children before giving birth to octuplets.
Four of the octuplets are now home from the hospital.
Czech says the relationship between Suleman and the nurses started off badly because their attorney, Gloria Allred, publicly filed a complaint against the octuplets' mother with the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services.
Allred refused immediate comment, saying she will release details Tuesday.

Rihanna helps 5-year-old fan Look for a bone marrow donor

Rihanna is stepping forward to help a 5-year-old New York City girl find a bone marrow donor - the second time in a year that the Grammy Award winner has helped a leukemia victim seek a match.

"When I saw the video of Jasmina it broke my heart. It is so unfair that for a black patient it's so much harder to find a bone marrow match," the singer tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Jasmina has acute leukemia and she needs a bone marrow transplant to live."

Last February, Rihanna helped New Yorker Lisa Flynn find a match by putting out a call for donors on PEOPLE.com. "More than 5,000 donors came forward," says Katharina Harf of DKMS, the world's largest nonprofit marrow donor center, which is helping to find a match for Jasmina. "Rihanna has already helped DKMS save many lives," says Harf. "Now we can count on her again."

Rihanna was "very upset" when she learned about Jasmina Amena's struggle with an aggressive and rare form of leukemia, says Harf. "When Rihanna found out about Jasmina, she said, 'I absolutely have to help her.' She wanted to do whatever she could for this little girl. Rihanna loves children and no matter how busy she is, she takes time out of her schedule to help them."

Jasmina's mother, Thea Amena, who adopted the girl when she was three days old, was "over the moon" when she found out that Rihanna had come forward to help the child find a donor. "My daughter is a huge, huge Rihanna fan," says Amena. "Last year when I was in Best Buy, Jasmina was in the store singing and dancing in front of a huge screen with Rihanna on it. The only way I could pull her away was to buy one of Rihanna's CDs. She's been listening to it ever since."

Jasmina is just as thrilled that her idol is helping her. "I'm so excited!" she told PEOPLE with a huge grin from her New York City hospital room, where she has been since Jan. 20.

A Serious DiagnosisJasmina has undergone chemotherapy, but a bone marrow transplant is "the only chance for her survival," says Harf. "This is a very serious situation."

Rihanna adds: "Leukemia is the most common disease children in the U.S. die of and we need to change that. I urge everyone to sign up as a bone marrow donor with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more children like Jasmina."

Finding a match is difficult enough for leukemia patients. But for Jasmina, it will be that much harder because she is African-American, says Harf. "For African-Americans, it's so much harder to find a bone marrow match because they are underrepresented in the registry worldwide," she says. "We need people to come forward immediately and sign up as bone marrow donors."

Rihanna isn't the only one helping Jasmina. Her best friend, Isabelle Huurman, also 5, and her mother, Karen Detrick, made a touching video (above) to help "find the one for Jasmina." The two little girls became friends through their mothers, who met at a thingytail party when the children were two and learned that they had adopted their girls from the same adoption agency.

"We always imagined that Jasmina and Isabelle would grow up together and be best friends forever," says Detrick.

Finding a MatchNow, leukemia threatens their special friendship - and Jasmina's young life. "Because she was adopted, there is no information about her extended birth family," says Detrick. "While it is possible to find a match for Jasmina among unrelated ethnicities, we are far more likely to find a match among African-Americans. We are asking people of all ethnicities to join the registry today."

The process is simple: Request a donor kit from DKMS; once it arrives, swab the inside of your cheeks and send back the kit.

Amena - who says her daughter's illness has been "like a bad dream" - hopes many people come forward to help Jasmina and other leukemia victims. "Finding a match is our only answer," says Amena. "We have to. And we want to bring awareness to this - not just for Jasmina, but for everyone with leukemia. I hope people come forward to help."

Kenny Chesney is straight as an arrow. Just ask the more than 100 women he's bedded!

The country superstar is opening up about the gay rumors that started after the end of his short marriage to Reneé Zellweger. Speculation was partly due to the wording on the actress' annulment papers, which cited "fraud" as a reason for their split.

"What guy who loves girls wouldn't be angry about that? I didn't sign up for that," Chesney tells Playboy magazine of his reaction to the rumors. "I'm pretty confident in the fact that I love girls. [laughs] I've got a long line of girls who could testify that I'm not gay."

A long line indeed.

"There were years when I had a better summer than A-Rod," Chesney boasts, adding that he's been with "over 100" women. "My first five years on the road were intense, because I was the guy in college who never got laid until I started playing guitar."

As for the demise of Chesney's relationship with Zellweger, he says paparazzi are partly to blame. But he doesn't shy away from taking some of the blame himself.

"I panicked, there's no doubt about it," he says of his reaction to the overwhelming media attention that came with his marriage. "I did the only thing I knew to do -- I ran. I pushed her away ... I didn't have any clue as to what true marriage meant. I was so used to committing to one thing -- music -- and then I had to totally commit to a second thing, marriage. I didn't know how to commit to both of them."

The rap triumvirate of Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent will soar 78-1 on The Billboard Hot 100 to be posted tomorrow morning (Feb. 12) with "Crack a Bottle," which sets a Nielsen SoundScan record for opening week download sales (418,000).

The first-week sum outpaces the prior mark of 335,000 downloads shifted by T.I. featuring Rihanna in the Oct. 18, 2008, issue. Among all weekly totals, "Bottle" ranks third behind Flo Rida's "Low" (467,000 on Jan, 12, 2008) and Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" (419,000 on Jan, 10, 2009).

"Bottle" is the second Hot 100 No. 1 for both Eminem and Dr. Dre. Slim Shady's only leader was 2002's "Lose Yourself," which spent 12 weeks at the summit, while Dre last led in 1996 as a featured artist on Blackstreet's "No Diggity." 50 Cent ups his No. 1 take to four, having last topped the list with "Candy Shop" (9 weeks in 2005).

Nicollette Sheridan Leaving Desperate Housewives

This isn't the first time it's been reported the actress, who plays real estate agent Edie Britt, will end her run on Wisteria Lane.

During the fifth season, show creator Marc Cherry revealed that Sheridan's character would be crossing a moral boundary that "will have have devastating consequences for her and lead to a shocking conclusion to her time on Wisteria Lane."

Sheridan, 45, denied she'd been fired.
"Please! Edie's going to be causing trouble. The house hags have done terrible, terrible things to Edie," she told USA Today in April. "There will only be one moment of true revenge when all of them

Sheridan was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2005 for her role on the TV drama.

ALOMAR IN 'AIDS' SHOCK

Former Met star Roberto Alomar had unprotected sex with his ex-girlfriend while he had full blown AIDS, a sensational lawsuit charges.

In the $15 million action filed in Brooklyn Federal court, Ilya Dall, of Queens, said the ballplayer tested positive for HIV in 2006 and a doctor later told him he had AIDS.

Dall said she tested negative for the disease - but is claiming punitive damages for emotional distress. She also claims her children were exposed to the virus.

Alomar, 41, a 12-time All Star, who retired from baseball in 2005, began dating Dall in 2002, and began having unprotected sex with her a short time later, according to the suit.

Her suit does not claim that he knew he had AIDS when they were having unprotected sex - but he had reason to think he might because his doctors kept advising him to be tested. He procrastinated and told her he was disease free, the suit says. In 2004, she said, she noticed he had cold sores. The following year he was diagnosed with a blood disorder that's linked to AIDS, the suit says.

Also in 2005, Alomar told Dall that when he once was raped by two Mexican men after playing a Ballgame in New Mexico, according to the suit.

Other symptoms began to develop, she says, including erectile dysfunction , a chronic cough, and fatigue.

A doctor insisted that the longtime second baseman take an HIV test, but Alomar continually refused, the suit charges.

In January 2006, the suit alleges, he finally got tested and it was positive. Nine days later, doctors discovered a mass in his chest, and a spinal tap revealed that he had full blown AIDS.

Alomar's two seasons with the Mets were considered disappointing , but he is considered a possible Hall of Fame candidate and may be elected when he becomes eligible next year.

But he will forever be remembered for an ugly incident in 1996 when, as a member of the Baltimore Orioles, he spat in the face of umpire John Hirschback during an argument over a called third strike.

He was suspended for five games. At the time there were allegation that the ump used a slur against Alomar, but that was never proven.

Alomar's father, Sandy, is the Mets bench coach. His brother, Sandy Jr., is a Met instructor.

A Los Angeles woman has filed a class action suit against Miley Cyrus, claiming she mocked Asians in a recent photo by slanting her eyes. Price tag: $4 billion.

Lucie J. Kim claims to represent more than 1 million Asian Pacific Islanders who live in L.A. County. Kim claims when Cyrus posed for the photo, she "knew or should have known that her image would be publicly disseminated via the media, which Cyrus knew focused on her private life, specifically TMZ."

Kim says in the suit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, that each Asian Pacific Islander is entitled to the minimum damages for a civil rights violation -- $4,000. Add it up -- $4 billion!

Kim says Miley's "just a kid" defense doesn't fly. She says it's like Paris Hilton claiming to be just a kid. Ouch.

Miley's peeps could not immediately be reached for comment.

US has learned exclusively that actress Pamela Anderson, 39, and her husband, musician Kid Rock, 35, have suffered a miscarriage.

A spokesperson for Pamela Anderson confirms that the actress suffered a miscarriage late week in Vancouver, Canada while filming her new movie, Blond on Blonder.

Anderson’s rep Tracy Nguyen, is asking that, “Pamela’s privacy be respected at this time.”

A source tells US that Anderson was not far along, and that the pregnancy was at its early stages.

“It is what it is,” says the source. “It was early enough.”

The source confirms that the actress did not go to the hospital to be treated, but instead had a doctor come to her to determine the miscarriage. The stress and the pressure of her rigorous filming schedule is believed to have caused the miscarriage.

Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean Takes a Detour

The Backstreet Boys, now a quartet after the departure of Kevin Richardson, are at work on a new album. That's not the only thing keeping A.J. McLean busy: He's also in the midst of his first solo album.

"I've pretty much written everything on the record with these guys, and I've learned a lot about myself through this whole process," he tells AOL Music.

Such as? "I've learned that I've got an angry side, a frustrated side, a happy side. I've learned that there was some unfinished business in things that I didn't get to settle with people like my father," he says. "There's a song entitled 'Sincerely Yours,' which is about my father. There are songs about past relationships, things that piss me off and then there are songs that just make you want to get up and dance. It's all real music. It's not like, 'Hey, you have a nice car. Let me see you shake your a**.'"

Among the people McLean is writing with on the album is friend Dan Muckala, who wrote the Backstreet hit 'Incomplete.' When Muckala was recently honored at Nashville's Belmont University, McLean got a chance to perform some of the new material live. "We did three of the songs, and it was a great response," he says. "If the college crowd digs it, I'm loving it. Hopefully next year there will be touring, records -- all kinds of stuff."

Brian Littrell Gets Intimate with Fans!

So I’ll admit it: I’m a Backstreet Boys fan.

Back in the nineties when boy bands were constantly topping the charts my friends and I would trek down to the then Skydome and took part in the whole Backstreet spectacle, the lights, the sets, the screaming, the yelling, oh the excitement.

So when I found out that Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell would be coming to town to promote his new solo album Welcome Home I must admit I was anxious to see how much of his boy band persona would seep its way into his solo career.

The first and most obvious Backstreet baggage that followed Littrell was his fans. Walking into the auditorium it was obvious that the women outnumbered the men. Although the crowd sat respectfully through the opening act, 17-year-old, local R&B artist Roshana, as soon as she finished her set the ladies rushed towards the stage in anticipation of the headliner. Though his fans were a large contingent of the crowd a few families dotted the auditorium and though they seemed to enjoy the show they didn’t quite have the same zeal as the Backstreet fans.

As the lights dimmed and Littrell graced the stage, the baby-faced boy-bander was greeted with an all too familiar chorus of high-pitched squeals and whistles. Though the crowd was similar, albeit significantly more intimate than a Backstreet Boys crowd as Littrell grinned and waved at the audience, it quickly became apparent that this wasn’t a chair flipping Backstreet show. Strapping on an acoustic guitar Littrell began his set with “My Answer is You” easily drawing the crowd into the Christian anthem.

For a man who began his career only having to fill one fifth of a stage Littrell held his own easily with his sweet voice and charismatic humour giving the crowd a more intimate look at the pop star. Though his pop sensibilities still shone through the stripped down songs gave him a chance to showcase the strength of his voice and a bit of his skill on the guitar, he joked later in the set, “who says a guy in a boy band can’t play guitar?”

Most of his performance was filled with tunes from Welcome Home like “Wish” and a cover of Michael English’s “In Christ Alone” and “Angles and Heroes” Littrell also slowed it down for a cover of country star Tim McGraw’s “Don’t Take the Girl”.

His song “Gone Without Goodbye”, the heart wrenching tune written about 9/11 had personal meaning for Littrell. He talked candidly to the crowd about how his wife, Leighanne was set to get on a plane on September 11, 2001 from Boston to California but told him “I just have this feeling in my gut that’s telling me to stay with you.” Twenty four hours before she was to set foot on the American Airlines flight his wife cancelled, narrowly missing a trip on the plane that crashed into the World Trade Centre.

Though he delved into serious subject matters like faith and loss Littrell never shied away from his pop star persona, even throwing a few Backstreet tunes into his set rattling off solo versions of “I Want It That Way” and “As Long As You Love Me” to the delight of the excited crowd.

Even his banter was scattered with anecdotes of his fans and the other boys joking that fans were always asking him about the other boys as if they all lived in the same house and joking that his fans often knew where he was going even before he did. He even seeped pieces of Backstreet Boy songs into his banter always singing the word “alright” just the way he did in “Backstreet’s Back”.

Moving easily from poking fun at his band mates and fans to advocating his faith his gentle Southern charm shone through in a way it never could under the bright lights and in the massive stadiums the Backstreet Boys played in the past. As he returned to the stage for his encore at the end of the night he thanked the crowd genuinely for coming out, “I hope that you see a real person up here,” he said “instead of just a pop star.”

Backstreet Boys Working On 2007 Album

Backstreet Boys will return with a new album in spring of next year, singer AJ McLean tells Access Hollywood.

The four piece (which also includes members Nick Carter, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough -- fifth member Kevin Richardson announced he'd left the group earlier this year) has a host of tracks they are expected to wrap up by January. The group's been writing and recording with producer Dan Muckala according to McLean. Rob Wells, whose previous credits include writing and producing with Nick Lachey, is also involved.

"It's very piano driven," McLean told Access at the Playstation 3 party Wednesday in Los Angeles. "It's very guitar driven. Lyrically, it's great. Melodies are back. Harmonies are back."

Some former boy-banders, such as Justin Timberlake with help from super producer Timbaland, have opted for a dancier sound of late. The Backstreet Boys won't follow suit.

"It's not so dancey in that sense," McLean said. "We're still gonna dance, we're still gonna be on stage, we're still gonna perform, but it's just really great music. It's always been about the music for us. That's the bottom line."

While working on the new Backstreet album, McLean added he has been pulling double duty, writing and recording his own, first ever solo album.

"I can multi-task," he said. "Sort of."

McLean's own effort, the third for a Backstreet Boy (Carter released his in 2002, Littrell in 2006), will be issued at some point next year, following the drop of the BB album. As for what it sounds like, the singer said, a little bit of everything.

"Mine's definitely rockier. Mine's more eclectic. It's got everything that defines me from rock, soul, funk to all live instrumentation," he said. "I'm writing the entire thing along with these producers and it's a lot of personal influence and it's more real. It's not about 'Hey! Nice car, nice ass, nice jewelry,' it's about personal things -- things that piss me off, my relationship with my father, relationships, just things that I wanna get off my chest"

McLean said he plans to do some after-show club gigs while on the next Backstreet tour and hopes to embark on his own solo trek when the foursome finish their own jaunt.

Ex-Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson is set to dazzle Toronto theatre-goers as the male lead in the hit musical "Chicago."

Former Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson is getting set to razzle dazzle Toronto in the fourth return of the hit musical Chicago.

Having played hot-shot lawyer Billy Flynn on Broadway in 2002, a run in San Francisco and then in London's west-end in 2003, Richardson is "getting his chops back" to reignite the lead role at the Princess of Wales Theatre from Nov. 21-Dec. 3.

No stranger to the live stage, Richardson was part of the sensational pop fivesome that broke several records in its continuing 14-year career, including stealing the title of highest-selling boyband of all-time. Named the "Sexiest Pop Star" by People Magazine in 1999, Richardson, 35, will no doubt take on the Bob Fosse choreography and suave Flynn persona in stride.

Q. So Billy will be brought back to life in Toronto. Do you think you'll be able to settle right back into the role?

A. I gotta get my chops back, I gotta get in rehearsal. I broke out my script and I've been working on it. It should come back to me OK, I'm surprised at all the lines I still remember, but when you do that many shows it's kinda hard to get it out of your system.

Q. Is theatre fun for you?

A. Oh, I love it. I grew up doing theatre ... and when I was working in Orlando, Fla., I did some community theatre and dinner theatre down there when I was working in Walt Disney World (as a tour guide) before I joined the Backstreet Boys. I'm honoured to do such an incredibly written show as Chicago. And I rediscovered another part of me that I want to pursue even more.

Q. How did the role in Chicago come about?

A. Well at that point (in 2002), Nick was doing a solo album and A.J. was making sure everything was good with him on his recovery and rehab. We were all just kind of on a hiatus. Brian and his wife had just had a new child so we were all kinda doing our own thing. And Chicago called my agent, asked if I would be interested in ... auditioning for Chicago. And I said absolutely. So I went up to New York, auditioned and got to play Billy Flynn on the Broadway stage at the same time the movie came out. So it was really fun to do it. When I was in rehearsals I went and saw the opening night of the movie in New York City, and that was really cool.

Q. What's it like playing Billy Flynn?

A. It's a blast. It's the best entrance of any character on Broadway -- you get to come out with all these girls, chanting your name. Billy's a fun character. He's slick, he's smart, he's in control, and he runs the show. It's fun to play an attorney, and do cross-examination in the court room.

Q. What is your favourite part about performing live?

A. You get a great satisfaction out of that because of the energy from the audience, the risk factor that you are taking ... of remembering your lines and remembering your blocking and also making it real, making it seem like it's the first time you've ever done it. That's the challenge.

Occasionally, in theatre and occasionally on stage in a concert -- not all the time -- you'll just get in a zone where everything's clicking. And it's perfect. And those moments are rare but those moments are what you work for.

Q. How is performing as part of the Backstreet Boys different for you from performing in theatre?

A. I think it's a different kind of satisfaction and fufillment that you get performing in a musical or in a straight play. Getting to become a character, to embody a character, to totally be someone else, to get laughs from your dialogue. I love it. It's a totally different type of experience, more intimate. You have parts of your personality that you don't really show much or aren't really present much, and you try to find them and bring them up into the character.

Q. Do you miss the heartthrob stardom, and screaming girls?

A. The attention is nice, yes, but it's nice to get quiet attention too.

Q. How did you ultimately make the decision to leave the Backstreet Boys?

A. I just followed my heart. I tried to listen to my own instincts and what my heart and my gut was telling me. And they told me it was time for me to move on. It's not always easy to listen to your inner voice, especially with record labels and group members and agents and managers and millions of loyal fans who would like ... me to still be involved with the group but ultimately I have to do what makes me happy, and what fufils me. There were things in my life that I still wanted to accomplish and it's really hard for me to dedicate time in other areas of my life with the Backstreet Boys, and our album cycles and our tours take so much time and energy.

Q. Are you still tight with your Backstreet crew?

A. Absolutely. I mean it's going on 14 years this year since we got together in 1993. And they're like my little brothers. They're totally understanding and totally cool with my decision. And they are going to do a record without me. I'm pretty sure they were supposed to try to have a record finished by the end of this year but that didn't work out so I think they're shooting for some time in the beginning of the year, so I wish them the best and we're all good.

Q. What are some of your greatest memories of performing?

A. One of the highlights, one of the greatest moments was playing that huge stadium in Toronto (ACC) a few nights in a row. That was incredible. The amount of people and the amount of energy, it's amazing. That place is huge! Amazing.

And even last year when we performed out by the water, the Molson(Amphi)theatre. That's a beautiful setting to perform in. Performing in front of 90,000 in Rio, in a huge soccer stadium, that was incredible. Performing in a tribute to The Temptations, Boyz 2 Men and the Bee Gees on the Grammys ... we performed a tribute to all those great vocal acts, that was incredible. Hearing our song for the first time on the radio, that was an incredible memory. A lot of great memories.

Q. So what else has been on your plate as of late?

A. I have a production company (and) I'm developing new artists. Our first project we did was a soundtrack for the dance documentary ... Rize, it was picked up at Sundance by LionsGate. It's kinda a hip hop dance documentary about a dance movement out of south central L.A. A couple of buddies of mine, it was their idea and we all produced the soundtrack together. So that was exciting, it was a nice way to kinda step out of the box of what people would normally think what a Backstreet Boy would do, producing a hip hop soundtrack.

Some other things I really want to pursue - I want to do more charity work (and) more work with the environment. I started my own environmental foundation in 2000. I would love to do more theatre and I would love to do more film and television.

Q. Have you spent much time in Toronto?

A. I've been there many times, but have I spent much time there? No. Normally when we're there it's for a day or two and we're working around the clock. This will be the most time I've spent there, so I hope to get out and see some of the things that I haven't experienced. I did get to have dinner one time in that tower, that was really cool. I got to go to Toronto Raptors time, and a Blue Jays game a while back. but I hope to see more of the culture of Toronto this time. I'm really excited to come back.

Q. What's the next role you aspire to?

A. Another role I'd really like to play is fatherhood. My wife and I are working on that right now. I'm excited to see what that role has to hold.

BRACCIANO, Italy - A romantic Italian wedding for Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes might be a ‘Mission: Impossible,’ according to local officials.

The priest with jurisdiction over the dreamy lakeside castle tipped as the chosen location for the wedding says his parish won’t marry Cruise, and the mayor says she can’t because the couple haven’t done the official paperwork.

The small Italian town of Bracciano has been swimming with picture-snapping paparazzi since Il Messaggero newspaper reported that Castello Odescalchi in the town was chosen by the couple for their wedding later this month.

But rules of the local bureaucracy and the Roman Catholic Church appear to be a lot tougher than any of the macho super-secret spies Cruise’s character regularly defeats in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies.

Mayor Patrizia Riccioni told Reuters she would like the wedding to take place, but that it was unlikely any celebration would be blessed with state recognition given that the couple have not provided the needed documents.

‘I don’t think it will be legal,’ she said. ‘On an Italian level, there are papers and documents that we certainly don’t have (for a wedding).’
But Cruise and Holmes’ Los Angeles-based publicist dismissed the notion that the American couple’s nuptials depended on official sanctioning by Italian authorities.

‘They are making all the proper and necessary arrangements for their marriage to be legal,’ publicist Arnold Robinson told Reuters.

Cruise and Holmes announced in October that they would marry on Nov. 18 in Italy, with Giorgio Armani designing Holmes’ gown. Their first public appearance as a couple was in Italy, where they attended film awards in Rome in 2005.

Holmes’ parents are both Roman Catholics, and one Italian newspaper wrote that the twice-divorced Cruise, a devout Scientologist, wanted to have a legally binding Catholic ceremony in Bracciano’s imposing castle.

An electrician in Bracciano fed the media-frenzy on Thursday, when he told Italian television that the princess whose family owns Castello Odescalchi had ordered him to rewire part of the castle ahead of the Cruise-Holmes ceremony.

The priest with responsibility for Bracciano has said that whatever ceremony Cruise and Holmes have, it cannot be Catholic because Cruise is divorced and does not have parish permission.

‘Cruise is divorced,’ Monsignor Nicola Fiorentini told Italian media. ‘Even if the actor were not divorced, another fundamental requirement to validate the rite would be missing: the authorization of the parish.’

Wedding-watchers have also cautioned that if the couple go ahead with a Scientology ceremony alone, the Italian state is not likely to recognize it. The Church of Scientology was formed by the late American science-fiction novelist L. Ron Hubbard.

The red tape and the naysayers haven’t quelled the excitement around the 15th century Castello Odescalchi, which has hosted a pope and kings.

‘It’s a wonderful thing because it will bring back to life this dead countryside,’ local pensioner Maria Rosati said.

Sharon Stone is helping to clothe America's homeless this winter after urging bosses at the Burlington Coat Factory to hand over their wares to charity. The actress was horrified when she heard hundreds of children were forced to drop out of schools during the winter because their families couldn't afford to clothe them.
And she used her charms (nudge nudge wink wink) to convince Burlington bosses to hand out winter wardrobes to the worst-affected families.
She says, "There are kids who are not going back to finish their senior year... because they do not have a coat to go to school in. I've been working with a man at the Burlington Coat factory and we've been doing these projects all over the Atlantic northeast because there is so much of this situation. When I found this out... it broke my heart and I called the man who is the CEO of Burlington Coat Factory, and he was so moved by this concept that he started the project with me."
Stone is also working with footwear company Stride Rite to provide the same families with winter shoes. She adds, "These kids don't have shoes to go to school, so the kids in families are taking turns going to school because they only have a pair of shoes - each kid gives a pair of shoes to their brother and sister so they can go to school for one day. This is the real truth of what's happening in our country."

Britney Spears is reportedly offering pictures of her new baby Jayden James to magazines for free - to prevent estranged husband Kevin Federline from cashing in.

It has been claimed that there is a clause in the couple's prenuptial agreement that entitles Kevin to all proceeds from pictures of their wedding and their children.

Britney, 24, sold pictures of her 2004 nuptials and of first baby Sean Preston, after he was born last year, to People magazine, but is not offering the exclusive pictures of eight-week-old Jayden James to the publication.

The newly single singer has instead offered the pictures to glossy monthly magazines in a bid to boost her image, the same as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes did with photos of baby daughter Suri recently.

An anonymous editor on a monthly women's magazine who has been offered the pictures said: "Monthly women's magazines don't write checks for photos and interviews, as People reportedly has for her in the past."
Britney filed for divorce on Tuesday (Nov 7, 2006) and wants sole custody of her two children.

Kevin, 28, has responded by applying for sole custody himself.

Spears filed legal papers today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." In her petition, Spears asks for both legal and physical custody of the couple's two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights.

As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Sept. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees.

Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events."

Spears has hired powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has repped a number of celebs, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland. We're told Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe asked Wasser to rep both of them in their split, but Wasser declined for personal reasons.
